SUMMARY

The Sales Representative is responsible for managing assigned accounts, and ensuring customer freight inquiries, cargo damage claim complaints and freight transactions are processed. The Accounts Manager will work closely with Business Development in pursuing new customers and opportunities where applicable. Typical duties in this role will including quoting rates, scheduling loads and monitoring equipment utilization. This position requires excellent communication skills, problem solving skills and effective time management abilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Confer with customers by telephone, e-mail, or in person to provide information about products or services, book and enter loads, and obtain details of complaints.
  • Quote and negotiate freight rates with customers.
  • Communicate quoted rates and work orders to dispatchers, drivers, and other relevant employees.
  • Plan movement of deck freight within Canada and the United States.
  • Monitor driver and equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules and minimize empty miles.
  • Maintain constant communication with customers, drivers, management, and fellow employees to ensure complaints and conflicts are identified and resolved.
  • Check to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers’ problems.
  • Update and modify shared load schedule spreadsheet.
  • Nurture customer relationships by resolving issues or complaints and provide great customer service.
  • Consult customers regarding the customs and border crossing processes and the most efficient ways of constructing or loading freight
  • Other duties may be assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Business Administration Certificate or CCLP Designation preferred.
  • Experience in equipment and industrial sales considered an asset.
  • Experience in the transportation industry preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Technical ability to understand and use transportation industry programs, such as AXON, Shaw Tracking, LSD Finder.
  • Ability to create and modify word-processed documents using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written comprehension required.
  • Strong decision making and problem solving required to comply with shipment requirements and federal laws.
  • Ability to receive direction from superiors concerning work responsibilities and daily tasks Strong attention to detail.
