St. Michael's Hospital Foundation (SMF) is the exclusive fundraising organization to generate and manage philanthropic funds for St. Michael's Hospital and Providence Healthcare, within Unity Health Toronto. Through multiple lines of fundraising income generation and stewardship activity, SMF, in conjunction with Unity Health, will define and promote the St. Michael's and Providence brands to maximize philanthropic revenue to fuel their healthcare, research, teaching and health equity missions. We will inspire our communities, local, provincial, national and international, to invest in our organizations' priorities to drive and implement innovation that will equitably support all members of our society to manage and overcome disease and health crises and live healthier lives to create a more inclusive and thriving society.

The Marketing and Communications department leads the brand development and stewardship for the Foundation, builds the public profile of the Foundation and its campaign priorities, and helps drive awareness of, interest in, engagement with and investment in the Foundation and the Hospitals we support. POSITION SUMMARY

The Officer, Marketing and Communications is an integral member of the Foundation's Marcom team, which is responsible for all internal and external marketing and communications across the Foundation, designed to drive awareness of, interest and engagement, investment in revenue generation and strengthen stakeholder relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

RESPONSIBILITY - Project Management

Maintain and update the marketing and communication team project tracking list on an ongoing basis, adding new tasks submitted through Jira ahead of weekly team meetings.

Monitor the status of current and upcoming projects on Jira, and follow up with requestors as needed regarding meeting requests, missing information, and/or approaching deadlines.

Implement edits to the Foundation's website, proactively request updates from with Foundation staff, and conduct regular website check-ups.

Support QA on the Foundation website, donation pages and fundraising platforms.

Support the production of material for projects and signature events, like our Annual Louis L. Odette Family Lecture, Angels Den, Urban Angel Soirée and the Urban Angel Golf Classic.

Identify, and implement optimizations in project management processes for marketing and communications, and direct and digital marketing teams.


RESPONSIBILITY - Communications and Operational Support

Support the planning and execution of multi-channel fundraising and marketing campaigns, including advertising, digital, social, and promotional campaigns.

Provide communications planning and support - including writing and editing social media content, preparing presentations and producing communications collateral for events.

Support staff with day-to-day internal and external communications and project management.

Support the development of an analytics dashboard to centralize results and data from Mailchimp emails, QR codes, and other marketing and communications platform.

Manage the QR code generator account, and troubleshoot issues as needed.

Design and deploy Mailchimp email campaigns such as the Foundation's monthly newsletter, including template development.

Liaise between design and printing agencies and internal communications teams to coordinate the production of brochures, posters and signage, videos and marketing collateral.

Conduct quality checks on printed materials and troubleshoot with vendors, as needed, in collaboration with Manager, Marketing and Communications.

Liaise with hospital physicians, researchers, scientists and executives - coordinating interviews and photo shoots.

Liaise with external vendors, installers, and hospital partners on hospital signage installations.

Liaise with the Foundation's marketing and communications and direct and digital marketing teams, external vendors and hospital partners to support the grateful patient program, and monitor success through donation and QR code analytics.

Conduct relevant industry research.

Upload completed project files, photos and events collateral to the Comms Hub archive or the L Drive, providing suggestions to optimize document management.

Assist with financial processing for the communications team (e.g., invoice processing and vendor coordination).

RESPONSIBILITY - Social Media

Assist with community management of St. Michael's Foundation social channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter)

Collaborate with the MARCOM team and writers to develop and approve content

Work together with the MARCOM team to create compelling graphics or source imagery for posts

Conduct research on current benchmark trends and audience

Execute social media strategy

RESPONSIBILITY - Team Member

Work and interact with others according to the core values of the organization and to contribute to building a safe, inclusive and high-performing workplace.

Act as an ambassador in the profession and throughout the community, positively representing St. Michael's Hospital and Providence Healthcare within Unity Health Toronto and the Foundation.

Abide by the policies and procedures of the Foundation, and where applicable, the Hospital.

Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor.

Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of the Foundation.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

A university or college education or a combination of education and experience that is deemed equivalent.

3+ years marketing and/or communications experience required.

Previous experience working in a fundraising environment desirable.

Previous experience working or volunteering for a not-for-profit organization preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency in communications and marketing.

Demonstrated leadership, reliability and flexibility.

Excellent organizational, communications (verbal/written), interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Exceptionally high level of good judgment and skill.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and be self-motivated in a high pressure, fast paced and demanding work environment.

Creative problem-solving expected.

Must be able to work cooperatively in a team environment and also tackle challenges with a positive and engaging manner.

Strong ability to analyze and problem-solve independently and creatively.

Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of St. Michael's Hospital and Providence Healthcare.

    Note: Occasionally, Foundation staff is required to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends as a requirement of their job function(s).
