The Opportunity
The Finance Consultant will be responsible for helping transform the Finance department from supporting a single-entity, owner-managed Canadian company to a growing, private-equity-backed, multi-entity, international company. This is a 1-year role focusing on system conversion and transformation. Short-term opportunities will include the implementation of a new ERP system and streamlining consolidations and reporting. Longer-term opportunities will involve potential future mergers and acquisitions work and growing the Finance team, both in Canada and abroad.

The Role

    • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
    • Lead and guide the local finance team and the teams in other jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial activities.
    • Collaborate closely with external bookkeepers to ensure accurate and complete accounting records.
    • Demonstrate deep knowledge and expertise in accounting and tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Prepare consolidated financial statements of multiple entities in different countries and currencies.
    • Monthly reporting, including: Variance analysis against budget, KPIs, Cash flow and cash projections, Financial and covenant reporting to debt provider
    • Annual budget and forecasts throughout the year, including what-if scenario planning.
    • Prepare reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with external parties to ensure coordination and compliance with transfer pricing regulations in each jurisdiction.
    • Coordination of annual audit under Canadian ASPE.
    • Coordination of annual tax returns.
    • Acquisition due diligence activities as required.
    • Oversee ERP implementation, ensuring seamless integration across global operations.

The Successful Candidate

    • 6+ years of role-related experience, including experience with audits.
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
    • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to supervise and guide a local team and remote teams across different jurisdictions.
    • Demonstrated global experience in financial transformation and system integrations.
    • Capable of making decisions under uncertainty.
    • Prepare and submit reports on time, demonstrating a strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines, even if it means prioritizing timeliness over meticulous attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities.
    • Proficient in financial management systems and software (e.g., ERP systems, Xero, Sage, Excel).
    • Fluency in Spanish and English is preferred.
The Work Environment
- Our mid-sized office environment is in a great location downtown - we are right by St. Lawrence Market, close to the Distillery District, and 10 minutes away from the Financial District!
- Work will be hybrid, collaborating with other team members in person and digitally during regular business hours.
- We offer a flexible schedule. However, some work outside of normal business hours may be required on occasion due to time-constrained activities or collaborating with remote teams.
