The opportunity

The role is responsible for the onboarding and engagement of donor leads, acquisition of new donors and optimizing their onboarding journey. This includes retention and renewal within the first phase of a constituent's relationship with the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

This role also contributes to the Direct Marketing (DM) team's annual and quarterly plans. The ideal candidate should have a data-first and outcome-driven mindset; ability to identify and leverage trends/insights, strong collaboration and stakeholder management to drive initiatives, and have a passion for innovation and test/learns as related to digital fundraising.

(Please note Heart & Stroke offers hybrid working and candidates must live within the greater Toronto area and be able to travel to the Toronto office 1-2 days a week.)

How you will make an impact every day

Business Planning

  • Work with the Sr. Manager to develop the annual and quarterly fundraising plans

  • Drive digital fundraising campaigns; planning across DM, briefing vendors and execution management including process optimization, performance monitoring and reporting

  • Collaborate with key internal partners to drive integration and efficiencies of campaigns, evolve and innovate audience programs

  • Manage campaign budget and forecasts for the portfolio, including but not limited to the coordination, review, processing and tracking of invoices, MSAs and SOWs

  • Conduct ongoing analysis/ competitive research, contributing insights to the development and evolution of donor-first journeys

  • Ensure tracking and reporting is available for campaigns and initiatives

  • Conduct deep dives into reporting to identify performance trends and opportunities to improve programs

  • Identify reporting requirements for existing / new initiatives

Campaign Planning and Execution

  • Execution and implementation of the onboarding journeys for leads and donors

  • Deliver on innovative new ways to nurture and solicit new donors

  • Design and have input into short-term / test and learn tactics and strategies for the portfolio

  • Through analytics and insights, intimately understand the prospective donor audience, the triggers for response and reactivation, applying the learnings into development of tactics

  • Write briefs for agencies and internal partners for fundraising campaigns and onboarding journeys

  • Bring forward recommendations to support the acquisition targeting strategy

  • Gather insights, lessons learned and information about the competitive landscape through analytics and/or working with external vendors.

  • Manage the execution of all portfolio marketing initiatives, including critical path, budgets, production and stakeholder involvement/approvals

  • Schedules, reviews and provides final approval of all live data signoffs as they relate to email campaigns

  • Support testing of digital materials (emails, landing pages, etc.) to ensure proper tracking, implementation, link functionality, copy and creative implementation related to the execution of portfolio strategy and execution plans

  • Modify campaign plans, as necessary, based on real time results, market conditions and new learnings

  • Evaluate and measure the results of all campaigns versus targets as responses are received and upon completion of campaign

  • Prepare campaign post-mortem documents and presentations

  • Liaise with suppliers and internal departments ensuring that executional needs for the program are met.

  • Work with agencies/vendors to leverage their expertise in developing compelling marketing communications and supporting program delivery

  • Work closely with Direct Marketing and Marketing peers to ensure campaigns are seamlessly integrated with each other and messaging consistent

  • Build strong lateral relationships to ensure plans and execution are delivered successfully

Who we need

Education

  • Post secondary in related area

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience and strategic planning in an online acquisition context

  • Analytical capabilities including database segmentation and ROI analysis; must be able to read the data and construct insightful story

  • Experience working with multiple external agency and creative partners

  • Experience within a fast-paced environment involving multi-tasking and critical deadlines

  • Website and Ecommerce project management experience a plus

Skills

  • Requires strong understanding of motivations/needs of donor groups

  • Apply data segmentation to execute a strong program of customized messages

  • Requires working with multiple in/external stakeholders while working through complexities

  • Ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines

  • Strong degree of comfort with ambiguity but able to translate into tactical programs

  • Data driven thinker with ability to identify and respond to issues and opportunities in a timely manner

  • Ability to collect and distill data, to provide personal point of view and insights.

  • Demonstrated ability to construct donor journeys across multiple touch points and channels

  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple and competing demands on a consistent basis

  • Proven success meeting and exceeding revenue targets

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a strong collaborator

  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement

  • Established ability to work with data and analytics to maximize response

  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills

  • Self-initiative and ownership is a must

  • Flexibility to shift focus amongst competing priorities and a very strong sense of urgency

  • PC Knowledge - Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Power Point

  • Nice to have: experience and/or knowledge of Salesforce Marketing platform
