Hybrid Work Model

For team members situated within 50 kms/31 miles of our five global offices in Ottawa, Eldoret, Penang, Columbus, and Amsterdam, you can expect to come into the office at least one day a week. Similarly, those near our co-working spaces in Nairobi and Toronto are encouraged to work onsite once a month.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the Manager, Business Development will directly impact

Assent's growth by leading a team of Business Development Representatives to fuel our go-to-market (GTM) engine, engage top supply-chain / compliance leaders, and generate quality pipeline in support of Assen't revenue objectives.

In this role, you will focus on coaching and leading your team to success through methodical prospecting into our target audience with an omnichannel approach, strategically engaging our ideal buyers through tailored messaging, and setting qualified meetings with prospects that consistently convert into new sales opportunities.

Key Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of Business Development Teams, consisting of 7-8 BDRs.
  • Recruiting, coaching, and retaining an engaged and competent Business Development team capable of developing and managing a pipeline of opportunities sufficient to consistently meet and exceed both pipeline + sales targets
  • Leveling up the team to ensure long-term retention and promotional opportunities for each individual BDR on the team
  • Managing and driving performance at an individual BDR and BDR team level
  • Collaborating with other BD department leaders to refine internal + cross-functional processes
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement + developing solutions to solve them within your local team as well as the broader BDR team
  • Cross-functionally collaborating with sales leader counterparts, marketing, sales enablement, and rev-ops to provide feedback and analytical insights, execute on initiatives, and ensure alignment to collectively elevate team performance
  • Working collaboratively with other GTM stakeholders to maximize impact in the marketplace & drive awareness of Assent's suite of solutions
  • Implementing and ensuring the adoption of new processes, workflows, SLAs, and ROEs for effective and efficient team operations
  • Analyzing and leveraging performance metrics data to effectively coach, manage and develop initiatives to improve the efficiency and performance of the team
  • Generating and executing on successful outbound strategies and methodologies with a targeted, segmented focus for the team
  • Remaining knowledgeable and current on modern sales tactics and recommending strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analysis
  • Ensuring consistent and accurate use of systems/tools that support the success of BDR team members
  • Leading by example, keeping the team motivated, engaged, optimistic, and positive

Qualifications

Candidates must be based in Ottawa who can work in the office three days per week.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of leadership or coaching experience in SaaS, ideal but not required for candidates with BD/Sales experience.
  • Proven success leading or working as a BDR, or AE in SaaS.
  • Experience driving qualified pipeline generation through strategic outbound methods that lead to closed revenue.
  • Proficiency in coaching, training, and implementing effective BDR strategies to amplify individual and team performance.

  • Strong operational and analytical mindset with a proven ability to optimize tools (e.g., Outreach) and present actionable insights.
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making and adapting approaches based on results.
  • Highly process-oriented, organized, and efficient in managing tasks and workflows.
