Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Social Media Manager to join our team at Islamic Relief Canada. The Social Media Manager will play a pivotal role in enhancing our brand's online presence, driving engagement, and fostering a strong online community.

The candidate must be a people's person, enjoy using social media and building relationships with various stakeholders (followers, donors, organizations, influencers, and volunteers). They must bring creative energy and passion to a collaborative team environment. We're looking for someone who enjoys developing and implementing ideas for social media and community engagement, to increase brand awareness and engagement.

The candidate should have strong writing skills, with the ability to write clearly, simply and compellingly. They are required to have a strong attention to detail and a good understanding of the various content styles needed for online engagement, fundraising and stewardship. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and executing successful social media strategies, managing campaigns, and analyzing performance metrics to optimize our social media efforts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy for all accounts aligned with the Islamic Relief's mission and vision

  • Oversee the creation of engaging and high-quality content tailored to various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube)

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure brand consistency and alignment with overall marketing campaigns

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Social Media Specialists

  • Provide guidance and support to the team in content creation, scheduling, and platform management

  • Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, share updates, and brainstorm new ideas

  • Manage the teams performance, conduct performance appraisals, weekly 1on1's, and support in the development of their professional development plans

Content Creation and Curation

  • Working with the creatives, supervise the production of multimedia content, including graphics, videos, and written posts

  • Ensure all content is engaging, relevant, and optimized for each platform

  • Oversee the social media calendar and ensure timely posting across all channels

Analytics and Reporting

  • Track, analyze, and report on social media performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Hootsuite, or Sprout Social

  • Use data to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and adjust strategies as necessary

  • Present regular performance reports to the Director of Marketing and other stakeholders

Campaign Management

  • Plan and execute social media campaigns as per the annual Marketing strategic plan

  • Manage Islamic Relief's major campaigns as it pertains to social media including but not limited to: Ramadan, Dhul Hijjah, Year End, Emergency campaigns

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with other departments such as Government Relations, Fund Development, and Programs to integrate social media efforts with broader company initiatives

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the team, management, and external partners

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in social media management, preferably in a leadership role.

  • Past experience producing social media content, managing multiple platforms, as well as channel-specific knowledge (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.) is required

  • Creative and energetic with the ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands

  • Ability to cut the complexity and present immersive stories

  • Ability to maintain high level of attention to detail and consistency in language and brand

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and analytical skills

  • Excellent organizational skills to work independently

  • Ability to manage projects with many moving parts

  • Motivated self-starter who is able to take both guidance and initiative

  • Detail-oriented and committed to deadlines

  • Works well in a team with a collaborative lens

  • Bilingual/proficiency in French is an asset

  • Eligible to work in Canada

Starting Salary:

$73,500.00
