National Manager, Foundation Giving

Are you an experienced fundraiser who is bilingual, results-oriented and collaborative, and who wants to make a direct impact on raising funds to support JDRF's mission?

We're currently seeking a National Manager, Foundation Giving to join our Philanthropy team and provide direction, planning and execution of a comprehensive foundation giving program. We're looking for someone who enjoys the balance between providing collaborate support to colleagues on foundation giving as well as managing a personal portfolio to meet personal revenue objectives.

Interested? In this position, you would have the opportunity to:

Foundation Relations (60%)

  • Manage portfolio of 300 donors/prospects at the $5,000 to $500,000 level in various stages of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, and ensures appropriate movement through the pipeline in order to meet annual revenue targets.
  • Collaborate with fundraising staff members to grow a portfolio of strategic foundation partnerships, including prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to increase funding and maximize engagement.
  • Execute acquisition strategies that are focused on building and advancing the portfolio of foundation partnerships in a manner that meets JDRF's revenue targets, managing high-quality stewardship for active foundation donors.
  • Maintain a centralized application schedule coordinating proposal development deadlines, feeding into the Leadership Giving team's prospect pipeline.
  • Utilize CRM tools to track activity in relation to the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of private, public, and corporate foundations.

National & Regional Application Support (25%)

  • Work with staff across the country to deliver application support for national and local foundation grants by aiding staff in, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding foundations
  • Manage and update an internal toolkit for regional development staff comprising of guides on how to identify, cultivate and solicit foundation and corporate donations through granting.

Planning (15%)

  • Develop overall business plan and timelines for Foundation Giving and develop strategies to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of JDRF's mission, research strategy and financial goals.

Here's what we're looking for:

Experience, Skills and Other Attributes

  • 5 years of related Development/Advancement experience and completion of a relevant post-secondary degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certificate in Fundraising Management and/or Certified Fund-Raising Executive ('CFRE') certification, membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals ('AFP') are assets
  • Experience in foundation support within higher education and/or patient care and research sectors
  • Ability to identify leadership giving opportunities and quickly assess interest, capacity and connection
  • Demonstrated success in strategic proposal development and donor solicitation, gift closure and stewardship with an entrepreneurial spirit to grow the foundation giving programs by moving quickly on opportunities.
  • Bilingual in English/French with superior verbal, written, listening and presentation skills (in both English and French)
  • Experience researching, writing, revising, and editing grant proposals
  • Strong comprehension of research knowledge translation and the ability to articulate the mission and goals of JDRF to the community at large; knowledge of autoimmune diseases and the Canadian health research landscape an asset
  • Knowledge of legislation, regulations, legal and ethical standards/requirements relevant to the profession
  • Strong strategic and operational skills, with the ability to work together with other staff volunteers, and partner organizations across Canada to achieve success
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage key relationships with donors, partners, staff, and volunteers
  • Resourceful and organized; able to manage competing priorities, complex situations, and deadlines
  • Proven ability to influence with integrity and to work independently
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive, goal oriented and deadline-driven environment
  • High level of technical literacy in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams etc).

Location Requirements: Flexible within Canada; This position will work remotely from a home office

Salary for the new incumbent is anticipated to be within the range of $75,000-$85,000, commensurate with skills and experience in relation to the role requirements.
