Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation of The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign in St. John's and area, maximizing donations and coordinating volunteers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparing and implementing Master Schedule
  • Securing kettle locations and obtaining certificates of insurance
  • Preparing individual scheduling worksheets for ministry units
  • Primary contact in the event of "breakdowns"
  • Co-coordinating the preparation and distribution of printed materials
  • Preparing photo ID cards for volunteers on kettle pick-up
  • Developing "drop-off" and "pick-up" schedules
  • Co-coordinating the receiving of all funds each evening
  • Recruiting volunteers and coordinating counting and banking of kettle monies
  • Willingness to learn and attend a training session on the internal kettle reporting system
  • Preparing financial reports and providing regular updates to the Public Relations and Development Departments
  • Ensuring all equipment is retrieved from storage, cleaned and repaired as necessary
  • Ensuring bags containing printed materials are ready for delivery each morning; the only exception being Saturday mornings when bags are prepared on Friday evening
  • Recruit volunteers and engage service groups for assigned kettle shifts
  • Liaison with ministry units in recruiting volunteers for assigned kettle shifts
  • Liaison with the Public Relations and Development teams in recruiting personnel for the corporate sponsored kettle location
  • Liaison with St. John's Housing and Community staff
  • Performing other duties as assigned

TERM: Temporary; September 23, 2024 - January 15, 2025; 40 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have completed High School
  • Be able to represent The Salvation Army
  • Have good organizational skills
  • Possess good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Have computer skills and have knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Possess a valid Newfoundland Driver's License and obtain a Driver's Abstract
  • Be willing to obtain a Criminal Police/Vulnerable Sector Check and clearance through the Salvation Army Internal Abuse Registry
  • Be willing to sign the Salvation Army Code of Conduct Receipt and Acknowledgement Form
  • Provide references upon request
