The YMCA Southwestern New Brunswick is working hard to address the critical issues facing the region; the health crisis, population decline, youth outmigration and child poverty. At the Y, we are striving to build a diverse and inclusive community where each person is valued for the unique perspectives and contributions they bring.

The Y offers a diverse set of programs at 19 locations in the city and surrounding municipalities. We are a community of 450 employees and 500 volunteers. If you don't have a Y story yet - now is your opportunity to get involved. We invite you to come to see what the power of belonging can do for you, your career and your community.

The Opportunity:

As a Membership Services Representative, you will be the first point of contact for members and visitors. Your goal will be to create high quality welcoming and memorable experiences to members and potential members by being an information source and helping members navigate the YMCA's programs and services to aid them in reaching their specific health and fitness goals. Here, you will be an ambassador for the YMCA, guiding each interaction to showcase the power of community. This is a casual position that reports to the Membership Supervisor and requires flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends, at the Saint John Regional Y.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet all members by name, engage in conversation and provide exceptional Y experiences to members and visitors.
  • Meet or exceed targets including new member joins, follow up phone calls, and rates of conversion of prospective members.
  • Understand all programs and services the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick has to offer.
  • Build relationships with members and participants to engage and connect them to the Y's program and services.
  • Ensure all members adhere to the Member Etiquette, Child Protection Rules and the Y's Values.
  • Ensure delivery of Serving All Members (SAM) standards in daily interactions with visitors or members. Including supporting them through membership applications, program registrations, processing payments, member orientations, facility tours, answering incoming calls, emails, and questions, resolving member concerns and ensuring all areas are safe and clean.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in sales or customer service is an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings and weekends.
  • First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check

What We Offer:

  • YMCA membership
  • In-house training and professional development opportunities
  • Uniform and uniform allowance
  • Opportunities for career growth
  • Opportunities for cross-training across departments
  • Paid job-related certifications (i.e. First aid/CPR)

We ask qualified applicants to submit their cover letter and resume. The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick appreciates the interest of all applicants; however, only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
