The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.

Kettle Coordinator position is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.

Employement terms :

  • Position type: Full time Contractual - between 30 and 40 hours per week according to the needs.
  • Length of contract: The position will end as of January 10, 2025.
  • Work location: 51 Metropolitan Ave. in Sackville NS, but the coordinator is responsible for the kettles in Bedford/Sackville/Dartmouth.
  • The wage is $20 per hour.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below:

  • Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
  • Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset.
  • Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion.
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City/Assistant Coordinator.
  • Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required.
  • Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign.
  • Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers.
  • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently.
  • Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis).
  • Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
  • Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications and education requirements:

  • Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service.
  • Money handling experience is an asset.
  • Related experience is an asset.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required, including Child Check (if appropriate).
  • A Driver's Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
  • Valid driver's licence and a reliable vehicle required.
  • Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 - 25 lbs).
  • Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.
  • Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.
