Description

Boundless Vancouver organizes the Christmas Kettle Campaign to raise funds to feed, clothe and provide community for individuals and families. The Kettle Coordinator ensures the smooth running of the campaign, maximizing donations, coordinating employees and volunteers, and strengthening existing and forging new community partnerships.

Hours:

  • 35 hrs/wk, Sept. 23rd to Nov. 16th and 40hrs/wk, Nov. 18th to Dec. 24th. Flexibility will be required.
  • Sept. 30th, Oct. 14th and Nov. 11th will not be scheduled work days.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Works with a small team, coordinating all aspects of the Christmas kettle fundraising campaign.
  • Recruits, trains, schedules, and supports kettle hosts (employees and volunteers) in person, by telephone, and via online platforms.
  • Coordinates schedules for kettle hosts, responding to emergencies and absences, etc.
  • Fosters and maintains positive and encouraging working relationships with kettle locations, acting as liaison, and providing supports as needed.
  • Coordinates delivery and pick-ups of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.
  • May assume responsibility for coordinating kettle counters and/or overseeing counting of funds, preparing bank deposits, and overseeing pick-up of funds by security company.
  • Records statistical data and timesheets for income reporting and payroll functions.
  • Ensures all kettles and supplies are maintained at locations for the duration of the Christmas Kettle campaign.
  • Works with a list of volunteers, clubs, churches, and businesses to assist in filling volunteer positions.

Work Environment:

  • The incumbent's work environment is typically in the community ministries office and out in the community.
  • The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions:
  • May be required to work a flexible, non-routine schedule.
  • Be willing to use a personal vehicle for business purposes.

Exposure to Hazards:

The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor harm, injury, or illnesses due to:

  • Driving and moving of physical inventory
  • Physical attacks by others (i.e., violent/aggressive client)
  • Exposure to infectious diseases
  • Other potentially dangerous situations

Precautionary Measures:

The following would be asset for the incumbent (in addition to health and safety rules):

  • Universal Precautions
  • Non-violent Crisis intervention training
  • WHMIS

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications and Education requirements:

  • The successful job applicant will have completed a high school diploma or higher level of education.

Experience:

  • Previous fundraising and supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with and leading volunteers will be an asset.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong communication skills - oral, written and interpersonal, with the ability to make decisions and work on a team. Ease and comfort in making a high volume of telephone calls is a required ability for this position.
  • Organizational skills - scheduling, proposals, capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technological skills - Microsoft Office and other software systems.
  • Integrity - High standard of integrity, judgement, confidentiality, and trustworthy management of funds.

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent and clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean driver's abstract
