Wealth Protection Specialist - Insurance Advisor

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Consults with members on personal and business insurance needs by analyzing data on income, assets, liabilities, and wealth transfer objectives, in conjunction with client goals.
  • Determines needs, identifies solutions, and make recommendations for client consideration; provides information on a wide range of insurance products and services including Universal Life, Critical Illness, Term Life, Whole Life, Long Term Care, Disability, Key Man, Buy-Sell Agreements, and Wealth transfer strategy options.
  • Refers clients to other specialists as needs are identified; ensures the client is aware of the products/services available from the credit union and branch relationships are maintained for all other personal banking needs.
  • Processes life insurance applications and conducts all necessary follow-up discussions.
  • Conducts follow up interviews with clients to identify any changes within client circumstances and address where needs have changed.
  • Pursues business development opportunities in accordance with ethical standards and Life Insurance Council of British Columbia and all regulatory requirements, by identifying and pursuing leads through networking, community and social activities and other non-business functions.
  • Acts as a technical resource to other staff through individual information sessions and demonstrations on the features, benefits, and procedures associated with life insurance products and conducts follow up where required ensuring understanding.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Currently licensed with the Insurance Council of BC (LLQP)
  • 5 to 7 years directly related experience
  • Expert knowledge of personal insurance products and concepts
  • Solid understanding of banking products and services
  • Strong working knowledge of taxation for individuals and corporations
  • CFP or other planning designations an asset

Pay Transparency

This role has a base salary of $50,000 to $75,000, with the vast majority of total income from an extremely competitive commission compensation structure.
