Description

To provide oversight to The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Fundraising campaign in Lloydminster by securing and supervising volunteers and organizing all kettle related activities.

Temporary: October 21st to December 29th, 2024; Monday to Saturday; 40 hours per week.

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
  • Provide RCMP Criminal Record Check

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the operations of the Christmas Kettle campaign including developing campaign beyond current scope, scheduling of volunteers, assist with accounting, reporting, and maintaining volunteer records and records of donations received.
  • Responsible as a group work leader, provides directions and checking results and overseeing the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign volunteers.
  • May participate in recruitment of volunteers.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites.
  • Deliver and pick-up kettles to/from sites daily when needed, ensuring the security of donations.
  • Host at a kettle as required ensuring necessary coverage for breaks, etc.
  • Assume responsibility for coordination kettle counters and/ or overseeing counting with supervisor.
  • Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies and follow safety protocols.
  • May be required to prepare weekly timesheets.
  • Post campaign; retrieve all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations, prepare and send out Thank You letters to various groups, prepare volunteer recognition.
  • Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service.
  • Money handling experience is an asset.
  • Experience in office administration, with general office equipment, and strong working skills and experience using MS Word and Excel.
  • Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture, and values.

Note: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Skills/Capabilities:

  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required, including Child Check (if appropriate).
  • A Driver's Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle required.
  • Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 - 25 lbs).
  • Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.
  • Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.
