The Development Coordinator will provide support for critical functions within the development department. The Coordinator will help the team work towards meeting fundraising goals by coordinating projects, tasks, and team events that benefit the administrative affairs of the team. As part of their duties, the coordinator will need to maintain a high level of confidentiality, dependability, accuracy, attention to detail, and communication.

What you will do:
Chief Development Officer/Director of Development Administration: (70%)
Deliver effective and efficient administrative services to support the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Director of Development (DOD)
Supporting and organizing tasks, meetings, and special projects for the CDO and DOD as needed
Supporting moves management needs for the CDO and DOD including booking of meetings, coordinating donor hosting logistics, and follow up record keeping in Tessitura database
On occasion help on special projects to the Executive Assistant to the President and CEO on an as-needed basis
Team Administration: (30%)
Coordination of meetings including team meetings, department meetings, special training sessions, and team planning meetings
Ordering of office supplies, donor materials, and equipment as needed
Coordination and delivery of tasks for special projects - mailings, event support, team scheduling for activities
Oversee and provide guidance to development volunteers to help deliver department administrative projects
Coordination of onboarding for new staff
Coordination of team building activities including research, providing recommendations and organization of activities
Become trained in key service delivery areas of Development in order to support key events, activities, or to provide coverage when needed
What you will bring:
At least 2 years' experience working in fundraising for charities or nonprofits
Certificate in Business Administration, fundraising, or other relevant area is preferred.
Working knowledge of donor databases is an asset
Working knowledge of financial processes is an asset
Good understanding of the fund development process
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent attention to detail.
Dependability and confidentiality are critical for this role.
Strong knowledge in a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate professionally, effectively and discreetly with colleagues, donors, volunteers and other zoo staff.
Working Conditions:
Mostly desk work, some on-grounds mobility is required.
Although primarily Monday to Friday, occasional evening and weekend work is required.
Access to reliable source of transportation is required.
The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff working at the zoo must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues.
